Investigation of Radiological abnormalities

When chest imaging is performed (for example Chest Xray, CT scan) various abnormalities may be detected which necessitate respiratory specialist follow-up. Depending on the abnormality, surveillance imaging or diagnostic procedures may be required.

As the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) begins in Australia for eligible patients at high risk for lung cancer, more “incidental” abnormalities in the chest will also be detected and need appropriate management.

We will provide a rapid-access diagnostic pathway for patients where necessary. Our clinic can help facilitate further testing such as bronchoscopy or biopsy if this is required. We can also provide assessment and management of other incidentally detected abnormalities.
